In addition to the basic physical and mathematical training of the University students, the number of educational and research programs is executed by the Department staff with use of the up-to-date educational technologies. Every year more than 600 students are taught following the academic curricula and plans developed by us. Among those students are the future specialists in application of computer technologies in various educational areas: computer science, informatics, physics, ecology, graphics etc.

Our graduates have found their jobs both in the state and in the private sector of national economy. Many of them continue their education in course of the postgraduate study at our University. Their scientific researches are directed to the theory and methods of the teaching software development, to creation of the systems of computer testing, experiments planing, education facilities, development and usage of the Internet resources for training.

The Department teachers make their effort for conveying the gained rich teaching experience to the youth and for the students motivation to create the effective teaching facilities basing on the high technologies such as multimedia, telecommunication and information networks, interactive methods etc. The members of the purpose-made Department of the Vocational Training Technologies most significantly contribute to this activity.

The 16 Russian higher schools have introduced a complex of the teaching equipment РћРњР•GA created by the Department members. That is so to say a meccano including blocks for assembling the laboratory practical works on the wave and quantum optics within a course of general physics. Its hardware comprises the processing blocks of the digital diffraction and interference imaging being supported by an educational server OPTICS in the network mode.

Chairs of the Department actively cooperate with a Teaching Center of the Internet Education Federation having been established on the basis of our University and with a Remote Training Center of the University. In course of this co-operation the programs of preparation of the young Informatics teachers are realized; the lectures and practical works are provided; the remote training system is replenished with materials related to the natural science and specialized teaching cycles.

The Chairs of the Department actively cooperate with the Educational center of Federation of the Internet - education, created on the basis of our University, and the Center of remote training of the University. During this cooperation programs of preparation of young teachers at the course «Computer science» are realized, lectures are read and practical works under the program financed by the company YUKOS are conducted; educational-methodical filling of the system of remote training on disciplines of natural-science and professional - pedagogical cycles is created.

A Children Computer Club at the Chair of the Engineering Drawing and Computer Graphics is widely known. This chair is a sub-division of the Precision Mechanics and Technologies Department and at the same time it is an associated member of our Department. It provides preparation of the instructors in design.

Every year at the department the scientific and practical students and post-graduate students Conferences «Information technologies in education» are hold. Last years our student teams appear as one of the best at the All-Russia Competitions on professional teaching. The students themselves organize and provide a remote Internet section of these of these contests.

The Department students are permanently the authors of magazines «Computer Instruments in Education», «Terabyte», «Supreme Class», «ProfInfo». A successful realization form of non-obligatory activity of the Department students turned out to be a Student Department created upon initiative of the Vocational
